Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that happen in our bodies. To put it more simply it is the amount of energy, (calories), your body burns to maintain itself. Throughout the day, whatever you are doing, your body is constantly burning calories to keep you going. Of course, some people burn fat fast and easy, thus being known to have a fast metabolism.

Metabolism is affected by your muscle and fat percentage. So generally these people who have more muscle, (and little body fat), tend to have a higher or faster metabolism.

Here are six important facts to help you understand your metabolism to make it work for you.

Fat Storage Is A Natural Survival Mechanism: The body has an ability to efficiently store fat. This is a survival mechanism that started with our hunter-gatherer ancestors that lived in environments that had no easy sources of food. Body fat would be naturally stored as a means of energy for all the hunting and gathering that took place.Being on a diet that deprives the body of calories from the main basic food groups, (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals), over a long period of time will cause the body to begin to hang on to the fat supplies it has and even add to them. This is the reason why starvation diets don’t work in the long run.

It’s What You eat, Not How Much You Eat: It is important to consume the right number of calories to support your metabolism. Foods such as complex carbohydrates, (certain foods that take a long time to digest), are perfect for maintaining a healthy diet. You will find that eating the right types of foods such as, grains, beans, lean protein, fresh fruits and vegetables; will steady your eating habits. No longer will you feel hungry all the time.

Control Your Insulin: Managing your insulin effectively will help reduce body fat. Insulin is a hormone. It makes our body’s cells absorb glucose from the blood. The glucose is stored in the liver and muscle as glycogen and stops the body from using fat as a source of energy. Simply put, it helps store nutrients from the foods we eat. If your insulin levels are too high, (too much candy, fast foods, etc.), your body will struggle to burn fat fast and easy. The best way to insure low insulin levels is by eating foods with a low Glycemic Index.

Do Some Exercise: To create an efficient metabolic rate you need to do at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise? There is no need to do anything vigorous like a physical sport, something as simple as brisk walking every day or cycling or even going for a swim will be adequate.

Be Consistent: So you need to have a plan, something that you can stick to for the long run. Consistency is the key. What we don’t want is your blood sugar and insulin response yo-yoing up and down because of an inconsistent routine. Following a good fat loss system that teaches you to eat the right foods and eating a minimum of three times a day is a good start.

A good start in helping you gain knowledge and turn your body into a fat burning machine would be to use what the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program has to offer you.  A total step by step guide to help your body burn fat the right way and consistently.
